McDonald’s going green? It is a reality. McDonald’s (NYSE:MCD) is making big steps to improve its foot print. McDonald’s going green? Maybe greener is more appropriate, given it has made some moves in the past. So what is the latest McDonald’s going green move?
Well McDonald’s says it will partner with franchisees and suppliers to cut greenhouse gas emissions from its restaurants and offices 36% by 2030, and commits to a 31% reduction in emissions intensity across its supply chain by 2030. That is a major committment to going green(er).
McDonald’s says the combined target has been approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative, which it says is a first for a restaurant company.
McDonald’s says it will prioritize action on the largest segments of its carbon footprint: beef production, restaurant energy usage and sourcing, packaging and waste.
As McDonald’s going green over the last decade plus continues, the latest move here by the company is substantial. The latest McDonald’s going green effort is the equivalent of taking 32M passenger cars off the road for a year.
