To lean into demand for healthier options and protein-infused beverages, Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) will begin offering beverages with protein-boosted milk to its menu options beginning September 29.
To modernize its menu with “innovative, relevant, and hype-worthy products” that resonate with its customers, Starbucks’ (NASDAQ:SBUX) new protein beverages “tap into the growing consumer demand for protein in an innovative, premium and delicious way that only Starbucks can deliver,” said Tressie Lieberman, head of Starbucks global brand.
Protein cold foam will be offered in several flavors including banana, vanilla, chocolate, matcha, salted caramel, and brown sugar, as well as a sugar-free version of vanilla cold foam. Seasonal flavors include pumpkin and pecan.
Under the helm of Starbucks’ (NASDAQ:SBUX) new CEO Brian Niccol, the company has embraced new menu offerings, shorter wait times, and a revamped marketing strategy as part of his “Back to Starbucks” initiative to increase traffic.
And the launch of protein cold foam comes earlier than expected. During the company’s most recent earnings call, Niccol mentioned the introduction of protein cold foam for late Q4 to capitalize on the popularity and 23% growth in the company’s cold foam offerings.
“Protein cold foam is the first breakthrough innovation built and tested with our Starting 5 approach. It taps into what has become one of our most popular modifiers,” Niccol said on the call.
